Superior service ...practical solutions!
SERVICES WE OFFER
GSI's professionals are committed to helping our clients manage the risk associated with geoenvironmental issues and the quality control of materials and processes in construction projects, while helping to protect the environment.
Thousands of clients have partnered with GSI because our engineers, geologists and scientists deliver economical and practical solutions to difficult problems."
Test boring and core drilling, specialized soil and rock sampling techniques, cone penetrometer testing, electrical resistivity and electro-magnetic surveying.
GSI’s truck-mounted CPT rig has a push capacity of 20 tons with 10 cm2 cones, pore pressure and seismic shear wave instruments. We provide economical measurements of soil stratigraphy, relative density, strength and hydraulic information.
GSI uses state-of-the-art drilling equipment, methods and technologies, track and truck mounted drill rigs, highly skilled personnel and knowledge of the Midwest's subsurface materials.
GSI has in-house certified laboratories to provide specialized services like inspection sampling, testing and documentation and Quality Assurance / Quality Control.
Buried by regulatory issues? Let GSI do the dirty work! GSI serves as your advocate by keeping track of trends and forecasting viable solutions.
GSI environmental professionals follow all of ASTM E 1527 standards to produce EPA’s “AAI” compliant Phase I ESA reports for environmental liability.
ENGINEERING ANALYSIS & DESIGN
NEPA CONSULTING / EVALUATIONS
When it comes to field inspections and testing GSI employs many certified technicians to complete quality control and quality.
GSI’s skilled engineers provide expert analysis and design criteria such as pavement section design criteria, settlement and/or expansion magnitude and rate evaluation.
GSI’s environmental scientists have extensive experience with NEPA and regulatory hurdles like Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) that assess the potential environmental risks posed by contruction sites.
GSI’s geotechnical experts provide site evaluations including pavement / subgrade, alternative site or route studies, and definition of critical geotechnical parameters.
GSI’s professional engineers and scientists are well versed in the requirments for complying with the myriad of environmental regulations for all things air, water and waste.
GSI’s scientists and engineers help clients obtain “No Further Action” letters from environmental cleanup projects by providing remediation services.
GSI’s comprehensive approach to early identification of jurisdictional waters includes preliminary identification of wetlands and other aquatic sites.
Some of the laboratory analysis GSI performs include soil classification, shear strength, permeability, consolidation characteristics, and resistivity.
GSI helps clients with quality assurance for their construction projects by providing in-house and mobile laboratory services. This affords better coordingation and fast turnaround on test results.
GSI also completes non-destructive testing such as, ultrasound, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, concrete reinforcing bars, structural steel, bolted connections.
GSI can help city and county governments, and non-profits, obtain funding for their targeted brownfield redevelopment plans by assisting in the grant writing process.
CONE PENETRATION TESTING
GSI uses direct push sampling techniques to collect fast reliable soil samples. With an HPT, we create continuous, real-time profiles of soil hydraulic properties, locate contaminant pathways and target zones for remedial material injection.
GSI routinely installs groundwater monitoring wells (1-inch, 2-inch and 4-inch), soil vapor extraction (SVE) wells, air sparge (AS) wells, and temporary piezometers to measure pressure and other changes.
GSI's mobile labs allow our scientists, geologists and technicians to perform construction materials testing on-site. That means better coordination and less time waiting for test results.
