GSI uses our vast knowledge of  environmental regulations, years' experience preparing NEPA evaluations and working with federal, state and municipal agencies and our knowlege of environmental issues to help our clients mitigate the burden of regulatory compliance. This reduces potential risk and helps ensure contruction projects stay on schedule.

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requires federal agencies to use an interdisciplinary approach in planning and decision-making for proposed actions that impact the environment. Trying to figure out how to comply with NEPA regulations can be a daunting task. But GSI Engineers can assist you in preparing NEPA

evaluations and help you decide what actions to take and when.

The 1969 Act sets national policy on environmental issues. It establishes a basis for Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) and created the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). The CEQ established options for all federal agencies whose actions may affect the human environment.

The first option is categorical exclusion (CE) for projects without significant impact. An Environmental Assessment (EA) is required for projects where significant environmental impact is unknown. Finally, Environmental Impact Statements are mandated for projects with clearly identified significant environmental impacts.

GSI will help prepare NEPA evaluations for federally funded projects with Federal Highways, Housing and Urban Development, Federal Transit Authority, Federal Aviation Administration and the Federal Communications Commission, or assist you with meeting federal guidelines for private projects.
