KANSAS BROWNFIELDS PROGRAM
KDHE Browfield Targeted Assessments (BTAs)
As a Brownfields Consultant for the Kansas Department of Health & Environment (KDHE), GSI has completed more than 100 Brownfields Assessments, Site Investigation, Drilling & Remediation projects throughout the state. This high volume contract demands routine communications with State and local officials following the Federal Brownfields Assessment & Cleanup Grant requirements.
Structured very similarly to the City’s Brownfields Program, GSI currently supports a diverse portfolio of brownfield assessment and cleanup projects for the State of Kansas. This work requires efficient preparation of planning documents including QAPPs, Sampling & Analysis Plans, and project Health & Safety Plans. Technical reporting is performed in accordance with EPA Region 7 Brownfields Funding and KDHE requirements.
GSI has been active in the community outreach segments of the Program and has actively sought coalition members on behalf of the State of Kansas. Program participants are typically municipalities and other segments of local government. GSI routinely works with municipal officials to realize community-based objectives.
Browfields Targeted Assessments
Phase I / Phase II Environmental Site Assessments are performed in high volume to support the Program and local redevelopment. Work is conducted following EPA Brownfields quality assurance and reporting standards. Phase II sampling methods are applied to assess soil and groundwater conditions using field screening and EPA-established analytical parameters.
