TD AMERITRADE PARK
GSI Early Contributor to TD Ameritrade Park
GSI was an early contributor to the home of the NCAA College Worlds Series. The mammoth ballpark, located north of downtown Omaha, boasts 360-degree seating with a seating capacity of 24,000 Its state-of-the-art design also includes a 360-degree open concourse and a three-story Press Box with Executive Suites.
River beds, shallow ground water and obstructions
Early challenges included thick, compressible river deposits, shallow ground water and buried obstructions from the old Union Pacific shops. GSI worked with the design team to determine which site preparation activities would affect the project schedule so the contractor could meet project deadlines. GSI's recommendations included supporting the structure on driven pipe pile, preloading the grade-supported slabs, and installing a perimeter drainage system to lower the ground water table.
GSI worked closely with all key contributors on this project including the owner, design team, and contractor. Unknown and unanticipated conditions were expected during the early construction phases of this project site which was located in an historic region of Omaha near the Missouri River.
Experienced, Full-Time Staff
GSI provided experienced staff full-time throughout site preparation activities and was able to immediately address any issues related to underground obstructions, high groundwater, and hydrocarbon contamination as they arose.
Observation and Testing, Pipe Piling, Site Grading and More
Observation and testing services were provided during installation of the pipe piling, site grading, surcharge monitoring, MSE wall construction, backfill operations, and underground utility installation.
